Fore please! As the attention of the golf world has been on Augusta this week, we're thrilled to shine the spotlight on one of our rising stars: Caz Kilgore, a Truett McConnell University Men's Golf commit for the Class of 2028 and a proud early-access Homegrown Athlete.
"I'm looking forward to being able to promote myself as well as my school and any brands that may want to be involved with myself and my sport," says Kilgore, echoing the sentiment of many student-athletes navigating this new landscape. His motivation is key to localized NIL and aligns with Homegrown NIL's mission, for our approach to student-athlete influencer marketing benefits individuals, their schools, and local communities.
For Caz, the appeal of Homegrown NIL not only lies in the chance to promote himself, but also in the platform's commitment to leveling the playing field for athletes of all sizes and disciplines. "I think it's awesome that smaller athletes get a chance at NIL deals," he notes. "I also saw that a good friend of mine had started a new way for athletes to be involved with NIL and wanted to support it in any way that I could."

Offering words of wisdom to fellow student-athletes, Caz emphasizes the importance of self-confidence and seizing opportunities. "My advice would be to put yourself out there and be confident in yourself as well as your abilities," he shares. "Whether that be in the classroom, competing in your sport, or just in life in general."
Indeed, Caz sees the potential of NIL to empower student-athletes in their athletic careers and provide financial support while pursuing a valuable education. "I can really see it helping smaller athletes and athletes that might not necessarily be able or want to go pro," he says. "It could encourage them to stay in college longer, helping them to finish their degrees as well as help them financially."
This is already proving to be true with more athletes prolonging their collegiate careers in recent years. “With NIL, players now have the option to continue their education and earn money, and many have chosen to do so. The full numbers are unclear at this stage, but the examples are many,” Jay Bilas, an ESPN college basketball analyst, writes. “For those that champion education, this is a major positive. To have any athlete choose to continue his or her education, for whatever reason, can only be seen as a positive if one truly believes in education.”
As Caz prepares to tee off on his collegiate journey at TMU, he embodies the spirit of determination and ambition that drives student-athletes to excel both on and off the course. With Homegrown NIL by his side, Caz is poised to make his mark and drive success in the exciting world of collegiate athletics. That's NIL Fore All.
Join us in cheering on Caz Kilgore and all student-athletes as they navigate future opportunities with Homegrown NIL!
